Additional Gift Types to Consider:
- Stocks and bonds (securities)
- Real estate
- Personal property
- Individual retirement accounts
- Life insurance policies
With a planned gift, you can make a significant contribution that will not impact your current financial situation. You may designate HVN as the recipient of assets in the future, or you may make an immediate gift of an asset that you do not require as part of your current resource portfolio. A strategically planned estate or deferred gift can offer tremendous mutual value―potential tax and other financial benefits for your estate and heirs, as well as impact in perpetuity for HVN.
Please consult your attorney and other professional financial advisors.
The simplest planned gift, the charitable bequest offers a straightforward opportunity to make a substantial contribution to further the work and mission HVN without drawing on your current resources. Add a clause to your will or trust that states that you give a percentage, specific amount, named asset, or the remainder of your estate to HVN. We would be pleased to assist you with wording upon request.
You may name HVN as a beneficiary of a Life Insurance Policy, a Retirement Fund, IRA, 401(k) or Keogh Account, a Savings Account or a Certificate of Deposit.
Trusts and Annuities
In some cases, these options provide a means of making a significant gift while retaining a life income. Along with federal tax benefits, there are corresponding restrictions. Options include:
- Charitable gift annuity
- Charitable lead trust
- Charitable remainder trust
- Pooled income fund
- Life estate contract
